Moral Dilemma

Photobucket

You are an emergency worker that has just been called to the scene of an accident. When you arrive you see that the car belongs to your spouse. Fearing the worst you rush over to see that they are trapped in the car with their lover.

They see you and although barely conscious, they manage to mouth the words “I’m sorry”…

You don’t understand, but their look answers you question. The person next to them is their lover with whom they've been having an affair.

You reel back in shock, devastated by what your spouse's eyes have just told you. As you step back, the wreck in front of you comes into focus. You see your spouse is seriously hurt and needs attention right away. Even if attention is sought there’s a very high chance they'll die.

You look at the seat next to them and see their lover. They're bleeding heavily from a wound to the neck and you need to stem the flow of blood immediately. It will only take about 5 minutes to stop, but it will mean your spouse will definitely die.

If you tend to your spouse however, their lover will bleed to death despite the fact it could have been avoided.

Who would you choose to work on?

  1. OK. On the real... my first instinct would be: "DIE bitches! Die with open festering sores and wild screams of mad pain upon your lips! Just... just DIE, bitches!"

BUT after I'd gotten that outta my system, being the humane cat that I be, I might try desperately to rescue wifey... & use then my cell to get help for them both.

    One.

  2. I kind of differ from @Moanerplicity...i would prbably react accordingly givin the circumstances then later question myself...In the heat of the moment I just don't c myself letting any1 die even if they were triflin..I no it doesn't sound believable, but thats just how my mind wrks I wld figure that everytime they c me they wld c the person that saved their life...Great Post!

  3. I would definitely try to save my spouse. I don't even think it would require any thought it would just be instinct to save her.

  4. I think I would save my spouse, get cell phone help for the other person. At least that's what I'd to believe about myself.

Then after the spouse was all healed and doing well again, I'd shoot him dead.

  5. I would definitely try to help the spouse first, despite the circumstances...love just don't die like that. I would also seek help for the lover...the rest will be up to fate. Which is probably what brought us all to this place.

  6. EMT's come in pairs so the other person could work on the "lover". Regardless of what they have done, I could never let someone die at my hand. I would do everything I could for both of them (but my spouse first). And you better believe I have some SERIOUS leverage after I save this chick's life. She better not come round my husband evah again!

  7. Stab em both and cut your losses :)

  8. Hard question...

I think I would have to save the spouse. There are going to be many unanswered questions either way it goes because only one side of the story will be available, should you choose to ask.

I don't know where you pulled this question from, but it's a good one for sure.

  9. First of all I can't stop laughing at Moanerplicity! Funniest answer I've ever read to any blog post.

I feel like I'd just call 911 and leave them there together, not actually touching either one of them!

If we had kids and the bastard was a great father, MAYBE I'd try to save him. Ugh.

  10. Wow very good question.

But knowning me, I would be hurt but I still would try my best to make sure both remained alive.

I would call for help to assist with their rescue.

  11. Spouse. I wouldn't be too concerned about the lover. But, yes, I'd still feel obligated to the spouse.

  12. My spouse for sure. I wouldn't want anyone dying who could be saved even if they have wronged me.
But I think I may just try and help them both if possible

  13. I will try to save the spouse, they will suffer anyway because they would lose me in the end and their lover is gone.

  15. @Champ

I'd do the same. I'd never have peace knowing that I let somebody die that I could have saved.

    Thanks for stopping by.

I think it's natural to save who you care about first.

  23. Well damn! That's a great question right there. I luv scenarios like this.

I'm going to keep it one hundred. I would call for my partner(other emergency worker) to go assist my woman's lover and I would focus on her. Regardless of her betrayal, I'm sure I would still have feelings for her and would not want her to die...or I at least would like to do as much as I can to try and save her.

I know that may sound cold, but that's how I'd handle it. Once again, great question!

  24. I agree. It is a tough question. I think I would instinctively help my spouse first though.

  25. Lol. Right. Just because she's trifling that doesn't mean she deserves to die.
